The Ten Commandments to create a supportive community

David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister said: “History is not written; History is made “. The Coronavirus pandemic is an enemy that the Israeli public and the world population haven’t experienced for many years. This event requires us to embrace new solutions & initiatives. Communities has also part in the effort to stop the spread of this contagious virus. Together with support of Population Behavior Experts from the Home Front Command (Israeli civil protection), we have developed several recommendations to help us meet the challenges we all facing now.

The Ten Commandments
Check in your immediate vicinity whether anyone needs assistance, especially emphasis on people who are in quarantine, elderly people and people at-risk
Before you go shopping or making arrangements, ask your neighbors who are in quarantine, the elderly or those who are unable to go shopping, are there any things you can buy for them

Join virtual communities on topics that are relevant to you on social networks

It is a great time to meet new people - Connect with WhatsApp community groups in your building, neighborhood and town and create new friendships and new groups

Don't Forget the Elderly Population - Stay in touch with relatives who aren't connected to social networks

Hold community social gatherings through video calls or other dedicated software such as Zoom

This is a time for social initiatives - if you can volunteer, contact the coordinator of volunteers at your local municipality

You can help others from home too - be attentive, share your knowledge and experience, be sensitive to the adversity of others

Knowledge is power – be a center for knowledge for your friends and families. You can be updated with important information through the National Home Front Emergency Portal and the Ministry of Health website

Invest in your friends - Find time for distance learning projects and also joint fitness training on the Internet
